The Insight Program is one of the best resources for parents of adolescents and emerging adults dealing with addiction and behavioral issues! I know because Welwynn meets, and talks, with these folks on a daily basis. Insight has been one of our top go-to resources since they came to the greater Triangle area! They are the best!
My name is Collin Menzel. I came into insight when I was 22 years old and had no where else to turn in my life. Through this program I learned how to communicate with my family and friends, love others, and most importantly for me how to just be a good person again. Insight helped me realize life can be fun and enjoyable without the use of alcohol and drugs. Now over 3 years later after graduating the insight program I am still sober and loving life! I would highly recommended this program to anyone! It really works! Best of all I have great relationships with my family today and great friends for life!
I have been an Insight parent for over two years now. Insight has made a huge difference in my life, that of my child, and our family. We have been pleased with the group, the counselors, the communication, the parent support group, etc. Addiction is a family disease, and I believe that Insight fosters recovery for not only the child, but the family as well.
I got sober through the insight program in late 2016. I came here in a time in my life where I thought I had literally nothing going for me anymore. I was hopeless, miserable, and completely powerless over my addiction. Through this program I have earned things in my life that I never thought were going to be attainable for me. This group has taught me how to love and be loved. There is really no place like insight, it is unlike any other treatment facility. Insight has honestly saved my life.
I came into the program in 2015, and was greeted with love, and undertanding. The 12 steps of this program helped me understand my addiction and how my actions affected not only me, but others around me. Today I have things in my life I wouldn't have had without this program. I have a great family relationship, connection with friends who are willing to help me, I am able to hold a job, and am able to help people who were in the situation I was. I am able to say I am happy. This program has affected my life in only positive ways.
Part Two Insight has very few rules but they do know what works – the counselors have all been there which also makes this program unique. And just as a Dr. prescribes medication or a protocol to help a patient beat cancer it is still up to the patient to follow those directions. If someone has diabetes and the Dr. tells them that Insulin and diet is the only way to survive but they decide they don’t really like the Insulin regimen, their chances of being healthy are slimmer. The same goes for Insight. Counselors cannot make anyone in this program follow their suggested regimen, they can only encourage and set boundaries to help them accomplish the goal of staying clean and sober. I can hear the frustration in the voices of the negative comments – these are the families or individuals that are still searching for a solution and I can only imagine how scary that must be. Unlike cancer, counselors cannot remove the disease surgically and they cannot give drugs to help their patients heal – they must work with how their patients think, their habits and their connection to a higher power. I would encourage you to do more than read these reviews. Talk to the counselors, talk to the parents and talk to the young people who are in this program or who have graduated and moved on with their lives. By doing that you will meet families who have been healed, young people who are getting jobs they love, young adults who are completing college, men and women starting families and an honesty that is so rare in our society. Addiction and substance abuse is pervasive – you can find it anywhere. If we had a simple solution to this problem, it wouldn’t be a problem because we all hate the disease. That’s why we need programs like Insight. Programs that do not offer perfection or guarantees but they offer hope and a greater than average chance that your son or daughter will get their life back. Thank you for the opportunity to share our experience.
Part One Our son joined Insight almost 5 years ago and he is also close to 5 years clean and sober. Insight works!!! I take writing this review very seriously as I am extremely aware that someone could be reading this and their child’s life could be saved from either death, prison or continued substance abuse. If you are reading this, you or your family have most likely reached a point where you feel like your life or your child’s life is out of control. Things are not going as you had planned and you don’t know where to turn. This program offers you the opportunity to explore a solution that is unlike any other for children aged 14 through 24 and sometimes older. Many of the young people involved in Insight have tried a multitude of other treatment programs – none of which have worked. This worked for our son and hundreds of other families in the states fortunate enough to have Insight because it offers a new way for addicts to think, a new way to live, and the tools to remain healthy and functioning adults. Most importantly, it teaches young people with substance abuse issues how to love themselves and brings healing to families who thought they lost their child forever. I find the negative reviews – which are few, thankfully – extremely irresponsible and somewhat dangerous – as they could potentially prevent a family from saving their child’s life. It is one thing to say that this program did not work for them but quite another to vilify the counselors and a program that has worked for the majority of people who have committed to its principles. We have experienced the expertise, dedication and love of many of the Insight counselors – not only in the Triad but in other states – and what they do goes above and beyond a profession – their primary goal is to save lives and restore relationships. I consider substance abuse a disease – no different than fighting cancer. We do not expect a doctor to have a 100% success rate in saving their patient’s life from cancer treatments. We hope for that but we are thankful for the patients that can be saved and saddened when the disease – not the doctor – takes someone’s life. We don’t blame the doctor when cancer returns after remission just as we can’t blame Insight when a patient relapses – which is very much part of the recovery journey. We were never pressured to join Insight – just the opposite – the counselors are very careful to offer a variety of options that may be available before choosing Insight – they are very upfront that Insight may not work for everyone but it has certainly worked for the majority.
Those two first reviewers are kids that kept getting high and having sex with kids in outpatient. Theyre just mad they got kicked out and didnt get a refund. Thanks for coming. Keep coming back.
